Why RackMarshal exists.
RackMarshal was created by Michael Poteet after developing an operations system for his own self-hosted environment. As that environment expanded across Proxmox, ZFS, backups, Linux services, hardware, mounts and Home Assistant, transient dashboards and one-off alerts were not enough.
The system evolved around a different question: what changed, what failed, what evidence remains, and has the affected infrastructure actually recovered?
Project model
Open source and local first.
RackMarshal is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and is developed publicly on GitHub. Core operation is designed for infrastructure you control, with minimal dependence on external hosted services.
